Miyawaki Forest

OVERVIEW: Named after Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki, this small forest was created using his method of afforestation that focuses on planting native species densely together so that they form an artificial ecosystem quickly without any external intervention or maintenance. This method is said to be able to create forests ten times faster than natural regeneration processes while also being more resilient against extreme weather conditions such as droughts or floods.
